Efficient Procurement of Operational Resources in the Power Distribution Sector

Abstract

The topic under research is the efficient procurement of operational resources in the power distribution sector. Purchasing is evolving into a strategic business activity and thus also a potential contributor to efficient procurement practices in the energy sector. However, the literature on the involvement of other departments in effective and efficient procurement practices is lacking. I therefore found it necessary to conduct an exploratory study to assess the procurement practices in the energy sector, and the contribution of purchasing and other departments to this effect.

 The research pointed out certain facts which I analyzed and made certain recommendations and suggestions concerning the creation of cross functional team towards the achievement of good procurement practices in the energy sector.
